Claude Can Access Your Other Devices

My partner and I share a Claude Pro account and both regularly use the Claude Desktop app. Recently, my partner has been performing some shopping research and has been using Claude to help with it. What was intresting to me was that on my machine, Chrome windows were opening and navigating to websites to research the products my partner was interested in.

As we’re both software engineers we decided to research this a little further. Both of us have Claude Desktop installed with the Claude for Chrome extension installed and configured. However on occasions where their Chrome was closed, Claude seemed to delegate to my machine without showing any indication of this happening.

What’s more concerning is that Chrome is not my daily driver, it usually sits in the background and I rarely interact with it. I discovered the open tabs purely by accident when clearing up some old windows.

Right now we’re trying to run other experiments to see if we can block the tool on one machine and see if Claude (and more worryingly Claude Code), will automatically switch to the other. If it does, we’ll have to rethink our workflow as unmitigated remote Claude access to a machine that isn’t our own is an uncomfortable thought.

It’s worth noting that neither of us has chosen to use Claude remote-control, the Computer use preview or Claude code on the web. What I’m trying to say is that we haven’t explicitly opted in to any remote access features.

This is uncomfortable for me and highlights the power and trust I have given Claude (probably naievly), but thankfully it was only my partner. For anyone sharing with less trustworthy actors, or worse, selling your credits to unknowns, take heed as you may be putting your own digital safety and privacy at risk.
